This is a small table cover and four small place settings brought home as a souvenir from the Hawaiian Islands during World War II. The table cover measures 44" x 34" and is made of a light blue cotton material with 1/4" fringe border. In each corner is is printed hula dancer complete with grass skirt and lai. She is seen dancing on a beach scene with grass hut and palm trees in the background. In the center of the cover the islands that make up the Hawaiians are printed, each island being named. Just off to the left of the islands is a native Hawaiian surfing. The 11" x 11" place settings have the same hula dancer printed on them. This was probably purchased by some 18 or 19 year old soldier that more than likely had never been out of his home state, let alone out of the United States, to give to his mother when he returned home. It has survived well, the printed colors are still very bright. There are no holes, stains, tears or moth damage anywhere. If you happen to be a Pearl Harbor collector, or have a Pacific theater collection this will add a little splash of color to it.
