GAR 55th Encampment Badge

Grand Army of the Republic 55th annual encampment badge from 1922. This one is from the Departments of California and Nevada. The encampment was held in Riverside, California. The broach is 1 3/4" wide and 1" tall. Suspended from the broach is an attachment in the shape of the Medal of Honor with three soldiers in the center. Around the perimeter of the attachment is Grand Army of the Republic Veteran. The back mark on the broach reads NEWARK NJ. The metal has a dark bronze appearance. The red, white, and blue ribbon is 3" long and 1 1/4" wide. The ribbon is frayed on the end with a small split halfway up in the red section. A makers tag on the back of the ribbon states the badge was manufactured by the Whitehead Hoag Co. of Newark, N. J. The tag is in good condition. Another hard to come by item for the GAR collector out there!
