This is a full color U.S. Air Force Nuclear Weapons Technician patch used during the Cold War period. The patch measures 3 7/16" wide and 3 7/16" high. The United States Air Force Technician Association is designed very similar to the USAFE emblem, also worn during the Cold War period. An flaming bomb like that used by the ordnance Corps is featured at the bottom of the shield. The atomic symbol is sewn in the center of the black bomb body. with a red, orange and yellow flame at the top of the bomb. In red lettering in an arc above the bomb are the words TECHNICIAN ASSOCIATION. In a yellow scroll below the shieldin blue lettering are the words NUCLEAR WEAPONS. This patch is in unissued condition and has never been on a uniform. This would be a nice piece for the beginning collector or the Air Force veteran of the family who served during the Cold War.
