This is a book and 33rpm vinyl album combination titled The Union Music of the North 1861-1865 played by the National Gallery Orchestra, conducted by Richard Bales and produced by Goddard Lieberson. The album was recorded by Columbia Records in 1958, just prior to the centennial of the Civil War. The album comes in a sleeve at the back of the book. Songs included on the album are: side one, the Military Quickstep, Tenting on the Old Camp Ground, The Battle Cry of Freedom, Aura Lee, The Invalid Corps and Just Before the Battle Mother. Side two features The Field at Gettysburg, The Gettysburg Address, The President's Hymn, The Vacant Chair, Abraham Lincoln's Funeral March, Taps, The President's Grave, The Grand Review of the Union Armies, and several more. The book is 60 pages with some amazing pen and ink drawings, along with period photographs. This would be a great piece to keep in the shop, but I don't have a turntable!
