The commanders of the armies, Grant commanding the Union Army and Lee commanding the Confederate Army. There are political figures, activists, women pioneers, prominent Union and Confederate generals and admirals and four major battles. The stamps are of the 32 cent denomination and have never been removed from the sheet. The front of the stamp features the colorful artwork of Mark Hess, the reverse has a brief bio of each person or battle.
