Model 1883 Mills Cavalry Cartridge belt with Model 1887 Mills Orndorff Belt Plate

This is a Model 1883 Mills woven Cavalry cartridge belt that has a Model 1887 Mills Orndorff "H" belt plate. The woven belt is in used condition with staining from wear, but is still in very good condition. It measures 3" wide and is 44 1/2" long with 2" cartridge loops. There are 45 loops for the .45-70 rifle or carbine ammunition. The cartridge loops are not frayed at the top and/or bottom. There are no eyelets to attach equipment to on the belt. The only flaw with this belt is the brass keeper for the buckle is missing. The leather wrap for the end of the belt on that side is also missing and has been stitched by hand to prevent unraveling. The belt plate is stamped on the reverse "ANSON MILLS, PAT. FEB 1. 1881/T.C. ORNDORFF SOLE MANF./WORCHESTER MASS/U.S.A.". The reverse of the cartridge belt is marked HHHutchinson. This is a scarce cartridge belt combination and would be a great addition to any Indian Wars collection.
