Model 1851 Sword Belt from the Indian Wars Period

This is a Model 1851 sword belt from the Indian Wars period. The black leather belt measures 39 1/4" long and 1 3/4" wide. The belt is missing both drops and the buckle. The leather is in very good condition, and shows light wear from use. It is still very pliable and strong. There is very little crazing, no tears, splits or holes in the leather anywhere. The stitching is still very strong and unbroken. There is no visible makers mark or inspector cartouche. The 1851 Sword belt plate is missing. The keeper is not bench marked, and has a beautiful chocolate patina. The shoulder strap ring and saber hook are not present. This is a later war belt as there are rivets present and a round brass adjustment hook. This old Model 51 sword belt just needs a buckle and it will be ready for a mannequin display!
