This is a German WWII K98 Bayonet with scabbard and frog with matching serial numbers in very good condition. The bayonet retains the majority of its original bluing. The bayonet release button is functional. The reverse upper pommel edge contains the two Waffen Amt markings being the open winged eagle. The grip plates are the bakelite style having the red maroon color with minimal wear. The plates are retained by spanner and screw hardware. The guard edges remain crisp, while the surfaces are smooth. The blued blade is complete with no grinding or sharpening marks. The obverse ricasso of the bayonet is stamped 9189 d while the reverse ricasso is stamped P.WYERSBERG. The scabbard is straight with no dents or dings. The blued finish on the scabbard is in good condition where protected by the frog, the exposed section has traces of the bluing with scattered oxidation and light pitting. The upper obverse side is stamped 9189 d, while the reverse upper side is stamped P.WEYERSBERG/1940. The reverse side of the scabbard ball is matching Waffen Amt stamped with the open winged eagle. The scabbard throat is retained by a single side screw. The leather frog shows some honest wear from use, but is still in solid condition. The leather retaining trap does have a tear, but is still complete. The reverse of the loops is maker stamped WILHELM/EILERS Jr./BIELEFELD with a possible 1942 date. This bayonet with scabbard and frog is a clean and honest example for your 98K rifle. This is a matching serial number bayonet. If you own a K98 and need a bayonet, this is the one you need. No need to every upgrade with this one!
