Non Excavated Civil War Period Picket Pin

This is a Union Cavalry picket pin from the Civil War era. This wrought iron pin measures 13 3/4" in length and is in non dug condition. These picket pins were regulation pieces of equipment for the Cavalry. They were used to secure the horse while grazing, or when at rest. This one has a smooth surface, with some light rust showing on the pin where the swivel ring joins. There's even a small amount of the original finish left on it! The "figure eight" ring rotates freely. This is an exceptional piece for your cavalry collection.
