This is a five shot, .32 caliber rimfire revolver made by Hopkins & Allen circa 1880. Hopkins & Allen were major American arms makers from 1867 through 1915. They manufactured a large quantity of spur trigger revolvers, most of which were sold to distributors that used names other than their own. This small pocket pistol, having an overall length of 6 3/4" with a barrel length of 2 3/4", is from their Ranger series of revolvers. This one is stamped RANGER No. 2 on the top of the frame. There are no other visible stamps on the exterior of the gun. The revolver was originally nickel plated, and still retains about 50% of the nickel plating. A small brass blade front sight contrasts well with the nickel barrel. The mechanics of the gun work perfect. The bore has a dull steel gray patina, with faint sights of rifling and no pitting. The ivory grips are in very good condition, and have a nice aged patina to them. This little firearm will go well in any late 1800's western firearms, river boat gamblers or just plain gun collection.
