This is a non excavated Confederate Artillery button from the Civil War period. The button is of a two piece design, has a back mark of H T & B MANCHESTER and measures 24.25 mm. The majority of the gilt remains on the button, having a dull golden patina! The shank is still reporting for duty, and is standing tall. These buttons have been attributed to the English makers of Hammond, Turner and Bates out of Manchester. They were brought in through the Federal blockade. If you collect Civil War buttons this one will compliment any collection.
