Excavated One Piece Virginia State Seal Button

This is a dug Virginia State Seal coat button. This button is one piece in design, measures 21.47 mm and utilizes a shank. It is back marked "Superior QUALITY". The face of the button is the same as depicted in Albert's book as Virginia 2A on page 262. The face of the button has a deep chocolate patina. The back mark is clear and very legible, with the back of the button having a chocolate patina. The shank is standing straight and tall! This button was recovered from an 1864 winter camp site used by the Laurel Cavalry Brigade. Location of the find and the diggers name will be provided to the new owner!
