This is a "war Log" from the Battle of Rocky Face Ridge, Georgia that occurred on 5 and 6 May, 1864. The section of wood measures 19" tall, 12 1/2" wide and 9" thick. Embedded in the center of the wood is a .577 caliber Enfield bullet. Obviously the tree was young when it was struck and grew to maturity. It look like sawmill blade marks on the base of the wood. I guess this one was going through the mill when the bullet was discovered. There is no bark left on what I think is white oak. A small black and gold tag on the wood reads, "BATTLE OF ROCKY FACE RIDGE/MAY 5-6, 1864/Struck by .57 caliber Enfield bullet". This was once in the Franklin Relics collection. The size of the log is big enough to display other Civil War items on, and still be able to stand out on it's own! Special shipping considerations apply to this one, delivery is available within a reasonable distance.
