Late 1800's Cree Indian Mukluks

This is a pair of late 1800's Cree Indians beaded mukluks. They are approximately 10 1/2" in length and 3 1/2" at the widest point. The uppers are made of a black wool material, with the lowers and soles made of tanned moose hide sewn with an inside seam. The uppers have bead work of white, greens, red and blues. The beads have been arranged into a floral type design, and really stand out against the black material on the front and back. A sleeve has been sewn into the top of each mukluk and a draw string of red cord has been inserted, enabling the wearer to ensure a tight fit against any deep snow encountered. A 1" wide strip of black cloth with floral designs has been sewn around the bottom of the black material of each mukluk. The tanned moose hide is very soft and pliable. There is no bead loss on either mukluk. The soles have no holes but show use from wear. There are no repairs on either mukluk. The fur trim around the upper section is wolf. The uppers are insulated with a brown quilted material. This pair of mukluks are attributed to the Cold Lake First nations band of Cree Indians located near Alberta, Canada. The Cree are native to southern Canada and North America, specifically North Dakota and Montana. These mukluks are in very good condition, display like a million dollars and will really put some wow in your Native American collection!
