This is a green glass "onion" bottle from the early 1800's. It measures 7 1/4" tall and is 5 1/2" across the base. These type of glass bottles were commonly used to store wine in. Most are of European origin, I believe this one is Dutch. They were used from the early 1700's through the mid 1800's. This type of bottle was commonly found on board ships, as the wide base helped keep the bottle stable in rough seas. The blob top is added after the bottle is blown, and allows a cork to be used. This one has two small chips in it. The bottom of the base shows plenty of wear and scuffs from use. This will look good in any bottle collection.
