Braided Horse Hair Rope

This is a braided horse hair mecate, or lead rope. It is made of the course tail hair and is approximately 3/4" in diameter. The rope measures 23' long. This one was picked up in New Mexico and is from the early 1900's. These horse hair ropes are used primarily to work with younger horses from the ground. It will really look nice in your Southwestern decor decorated business or home!
