Georgia Button

This is a non excavated Confederate Georgia state seal button from the Civil War period. This two piece button is of coat size and has the Georgia state seal on the face. The back mark is blank. The face is dent free, no mars or blemishes. The arch and three supporting columns with the words CONSTITUTION, WISDOM, JUSTICE and MODERATION are clearly visible. Even the lined sections of the dome are easy to see. There is an officer at the left portal with drawn sword. The face is absolutely perfect! The entire button has taken on a dark bronze hue. The shank is still with this one, standing perfectly straight and tall! There is also an exact example of this button in Alphaeus Albert's book "Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons" on page 132, GA 2B. This one is an must if you are a button collector. It would also make a fabulous addition to your Georgia collection.
