Just in to shop, a pair of drummer boys pants. They are made of blue wool material with a lined waist band. The overall length of the pants is 26 3/4', with a 14" inseam. The front panel measures 15" across the waist, somewhere around a 24 - 28 inch waist. There are five belt loops sewn around the waist, measuring 2 3/8" across the opening. There is some moth damage scattered around, the photos show them all. There are a couple of period repairs, most notably near the waist band. The seat has been reinforced with extra paneling. There are a variety of buttons sewn on to these pants. Most appear to be replacements sewn on in the field. There are three wooden buttons sewn into the fly, with the opening of the front of the pants being secured by a hook and latch. Of the four buttons used to attach suspenders, two are two piece tin buttons with wooden backs. One is a two piece design made of pewter with no back mark. The fourth is stamped MILES NEW HAVEN on the front and back marked C. WATKINSON. The back pocket flaps have rubber buttons sewn on. The small "watch" pocket in the front has no pocket flap. At the bottom of each leg there are three general service buttons sewn on. Each pant leg has a cuff and buckle sewn on to allow the little guy that wore these to gather the bottoms in. The buckles are back marked PARIS. The pants are still strong enough to be displayed on a maniquin. They were purchased from a very reputable dealer that seems to specialize in Civil War ear cloth. The consignor sent the paperwork along, and the invoice sheet will accompany the pants enroute to their new owner!
