British Model 1876 bayonet for the Martini-Henry rifle. This bad boy measures 25' overall, with a 21 1/2" triangular blade and 3" socket! This is the bayonet made famous in the movie Zulu, depicting the Defense of Rorke's Drift in 1879. The socket retain 85% of the bluing, with the retaining ring and locking pin showing some wear. The triangular blade still displays bright with a minimal amount of freckling. The stamps on the blade are very clear, but I haven't been able to break the code. A closer inspection shows the the broad arrow is stamped over by another arrow. The numbers 28 over 73 have been stamped over by what looks to be C over 10. In a line below the stamps are B.S.A.V.28L.77. Still researching this and will update when I have more information.
