Model 1851 Navy Colt cap and ball revolver. The 7 1/2" barrel has a single line New York address. Serial number 171951 puts the production year in 1863. All serial numbers match except the loading lever, which is unmarked. The beautiful walnut grips retain 85% of the original varnish. The grips are virtually unmarred and fit the gun perfectly. The cylinder scene is light but still visible. The silver wash is gone from the trigger guard and back strap, leaving the brass a mellow golden color, very eye pleasing. We picked this one up at the Mid South Civil War show last week. It looks to have been cleaned at one time but has begun to age back to a dark gray patina. Another good looking Civil War work horse that won't break the budget!
