Brigadier General Blenker CDV

CDV of Brigadier General Louis Blenker of the Union army. The German born Blenker was living in New York when the Civil War broke out. He organized the 8th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment and was elected the Colonel of the regiment. Colonel Blenker performed admirably at the battle of Bull Run and in West Virginia. He was promoted to Brigadier General for gallantry at Bull Run. Financial problems, supply difficulties and other things led to his demise. On 31 March, 1863, he was mustered out of the service. This CDV is in good condition, with only a slight bend of the corners.
