Civil War Era Mess Kit

Rare self contained mess kit from the Civil War era. The black japanned tin carrying case measures 14" wide and 6 1/2" tall. Inside are two flasks with cups and six storage tins. They are held tightly in place by a silverware shelf. Unfortunately the silverware is no longer with the set. On the front of the tin carrying case is a bronze colored tag that reads "Patented JANY. 28 1862." All the tin components are in good condition. One of the flasks is missing the cork stopper. This is a rare piece that would look great in a camp scene!
