Set of four Jefferson Davis 10 cent stamps. These are unused type I stamps colored blue. Bank engravers Archer and Daly came up with this design. Initial printing began in Richmond, Va. and the first use of this type was on April 21, 1863. Approximately 23,800,000 of these stamps were produced. When the fall of Richmond became in inevitable the operation was moved to South Carolina and the type II Jeff Davis ten cent stamps were born! This would go great with your Civil War era postal collection. Case included.
