Confederate Spur

Brass "Memphis" style spur with original leather strap. The spur measures 3 1/8" in width and 4" deep. This one is straight as the day it was cast, no bends or twists. The leather strap is in amazing condition and could be worn today. The coolest thing about this one is the rowel. An antique coin that appears to be dated 1833 was filed by hand into a five pointed star and installed as a rowel. Texas Cavalry rode with the Army of Tennessee and this type of spur was more common in the Western theater. I'll let you draw your own conclusions! The brass has turned a nice even chocolate brown patina. If you have a Confederate Cavalry collection this one needs to be in it!
