Nice little 1849 Colt pocket pistol made in 1856. This one may have been in the south before the big war on northern aggression! This five shot 31 caliber has a four inch barrel and the more uncommon steel back strap. There is a little of the case coloring left on the main housing, the remainder of the metal shows an even browning patina. All the serial numbers match, including that pesky little wedge. The cylinder scene is sharp as well as the two line Sam Colt barrel address of New York City. The action is crisp and locks up perfect with the rectangular cylinder stops at full cock. The original walnut grips retain most of the varnish. This little Colt will make an nice addition to your Colt, Confederate Cavalry or antique gun collection!
