US Military Academy Dress Uniform Chevron

This is a chevron worn by military academies on the dress uniform jacket to indicate the rank of the cadet. This particular chevron can be worn to indicate two different ranks, Corporal or Sergeant. When this chevron is worn on the left sleeve only it represents the cadets rank of Corporal. When the chevron is worn on both sleeves it represents the rank of Sergeant. The chevron is 7 3/8" wide and 5 1/4" wide and is constructed of gold stripes sewn on a black wool background. This one has been removed from a uniform. This style of chevron is used by military academies such as West Point, the Virginia Military Institute and the Citadel to name a few.
