This is a three piece set of US Cavalry bit and blinder rosettes. The one piece from the Civil War period is a bit rosette from a Model 1859 bit used by both the Union and Confederate Cavalry during the war. This one is none excavated and has a nice, even light chocolate brown patina. The other two pieces are from the WWI period, a rosette that was found on blinders used for both mules and horses and a smaller, round rosette with the letters US within a border. This piece could be as early as the Indian Wars period. I don't believe it is a bit rosette, since it looks to be secured by means of a screw. Instead I think it was part of a harness or bridle set. These tow pieces have a darker patina than the M1859 bit rosette. The three together display well, and will fit nicely into any US Cavalry collection.
