This is the Commemorative Medal for the Battle of Honey Springs, Oklahoma Territory that was commissioned by the Oklahoma Historical Society. This medal was used to represent the battle that was originally fought on 17 July, 1863. This medal was made in the tradition of the few medals that were presented during the civil War period. The ribbon is red, white and blue. The ribbon is still very vibrant and has no damage. The medallion is in the shape of a Grand Army of the Republic medal and has a gold tint to it. The front of the medallion is identical to the GAR membership medal. Ina circular band the medal is stamped BATTLE OF HONEY SPRINGS in an arc at the top and JULY 17, 1863 in an arc at the bottom. The reverse of the medallion is stamped "OKLAHOMA HISTORICAL SOCIETY" These look nice displayed with UCV and GAR items.
