This is a pair of non regulation private purchase Cavalry boots from the Indian War era. These are not the typical square toed boots, having a rounded point design instead. The lowers are made of a softer three piece leather construction, while the one piece uppers are made of a heavier, thicker leather. The left boot has one small hole in the leather, on the rear of the one piece upper just above the junction of the lower section. There is also a tear in the leather upper, on the inside notch approximately 2" in length. The right boot has no holes or tears in the leather. This pair of boots does not have the pulls sewn inside to assist the trooper in putting them on. Apparently he just grabbed the "wings" of the upper part of the boot and pulled them on. The heels and soles are both made of leather. The heels are stacked and are held together by nails, the soles are machine stitched. Both soles and heels show honest wear, but are complete and intact. This pair of boots shows plenty of honest wear, but are in very good condition. all the stitching remains strong and unbroken. The heels and soles show wear, as well as the leather, but again are in very good condition. They will display well in any Indian Wars collection.
