This Spanish American War button depicts the USS Maine under full steam, with the words REMEMBER THE MAINE in an arc above the ship. The Maine exploded in Havana Harbor, resulting in the United States entering the Spanish American War. The buttons are 1 1/4" across and are made by the Whitehead & Hoag Company of Newark, New Jersey. The colors on the buttons are still very vibrant, with no chips or degradation. This patriotic button will look nice in your Spanish American War collection.
