Civil War Period Western & Atlantic Railroad Pass

This is a ticket for the Western & Atlantic railroad. The ticket is 4 1/2" wide and 2" tall and is housed in a gold 5" x 7" frame. The ticket has been mounted to a a 5" x 7" piece of orange card stock. The ticket is well worn and faded, but most of the writing is still legible under magnification. The Western & Atlantic railroad was founded on 21 December, 1836, with Atlanta being the terminus. It was and is still owned by the state of Georgia. This fifty cent ticket was sold at the Atlanta terminal on 1 February, with the year not completely legible. A hole punch system was used to show that the ticket was paid for. Public transportation tickets are show up for sale in any kind of condition. This one is a little rough, but will still nicely in your transportation or railroad collection.
