Late 1800's Sons of Union Veterans Association Pin

This is a Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War pin from the late 1800's. The SUV was formed in 1883 to ensure that the legacy of the Union Civil War veteran would not end when the last veteran passed away. This lapel pin measures 5/8" high and 1/2" wide. This lapel pin is brass and has a beautiful chocolate patina to it. This one is made to be worn in either a button hole or possibly as a cuff link. The pin is back marked PAT MAY 10 1897, but has no maker mark. The detail on the front of the pin is amazing. It will make an excellent addition to any GAR or SUV collection.
