This is a Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic pinback button. The Ladies of the GAR is a Congressionally chartered non profit organization, and is the oldest women's hereditary organization in the United States. It was founded in 1886 and continues today. This button was originally white with the Ladies of the GAR emblem in the center. It is now discolored about 1/4" in from the edge of the button all the way around the button. The pin is missing from the back, but the paper label is still present. This badge was made by the Western Badge & Button Co. 109 Henne Bldg. Los Angeles, California.
