The United Spanish War Veterans organization was the result of three large Span-Am veterans groups merging in 1904. It's members were veterans of the Spanish American War, Philippine American War and the China Relief Expedition. This USWV medal is a visitors badge for veterans attending the 31th National Encampment held in Denver, Colorado in 1928. The badge is 3 1/2" tall, with the ribbon being 1 1/4" wide. This medal does not have a hanger, just a pin attached to the back of the ribbon. The ribbon is red and yellow with the words VISITOR/31st NATIONAL/ENCAMPMENT/U.S.W.V./DENVER/1929 in gold printed on it. Suspended from the ribbon is a medallion in the shape of an arrow head. The city of Denver is depicted in the medallion, with the US Aeronautical light being prominently represented. The cooper colored medal has some awesome eye appeal. The ribbon is in good condition, having no frays or tears. The back of the medal does not have a maker mark. This 31 National Encampment medal displays great, and will enhance any USWV collection.
