German M34 Fireman's Helmet

This is a German M34 fireman's helmet painted in black. These helmets came about with the rise in power of the Nazi party. Different paramilitary organizations, including the police and firefighters, wore helmets in daily work as well as dress occasions. With the growth in number of these organizations the surplus WWI helmets were no longer plentiful enough to go around. The helmet exterior looks to be an old repaint, possibly wartime. There are no decals on the helmet exterior, not even a shadow of one. The interior paint looks to be original. I can see no stamps on the interior skirt showing the maker of this helmet. The original chinstrap is still present, but is broken. There are no visible stampings on the inner rim of the helmet. The helmet has an intact liner with an ink stamped size of 58. The adjustment string is missing from the liner. This one is a no frills pre WWII German helmet survivor. It will make a great starter piece for the beginning collector in the family.
