This is a Knights Templar sword belt from the early 1900's. These belts were used primarily in ceremonies. The belt is made of leather and has a black and gold fabric over the leather. The belt has an overall length of 39" inches and is 1 3/4" wide. The inside of the belt has been reinforced with another strip of leather that has been riveted on. On this strip of leather three brass hangers have been installed to accommodate sword drops. For whatever reason there are two short and one long drop on the belt, in addition to the brass carrying hook. The name H Kepfield is stamped on the back of the buckle protector. Overall the belt is in good condition. Much of the stitching attaching the fabric to the leather is broken, but the fabric is not hanging loose from the leather. The drops and snap hooks are in good working order. The heavy brass buckle has an enameled red cross in the center, with the Latin saying of "In Hoc Signo Vinces" in an arc over the cross. Translated it means, "In this, conquer". If you are a Knights Templar, or collect Knight Templar regalia this will make an nice addition.
