United Spanish War Veteran 1928 National Encampment Medal

The United Spanish War Veterans organization was the result of three large Span-Am veterans groups merging in 1904. It's members were veterans of the Spanish American War, Philippine American War and the China Relief Expedition. This USWV medal is for veterans attending the 26th National Encampment held in Havana, Cuba in 1928. The badge is 3 3/4" tall, with the hanger being 2" wide. The hanger is a rectangle with s small piece of card stock inserted so the veteran could write his name on it. Suspended below the hanger is a red, white and blue ribbon. Suspended from the ribbon is an eight point medallion with the Coat of Arms for Cuba in the center. In an arc above and below the coat of arms in raised letters is "REPUBLICA DE CUBA". The ribbon is is in very good condition, no frays rips or tears and the colors are still very vibrant. The header is back marked WHITEHEAD & HOAG. The back of the medal is stamped with the dates 1898 in the center and 1902 on the left and 1928 on the right. Under the dates the inscription "COMMEMORATING/the/26th ANNIVERSAY/CUBAN INDEPENDENCE/and the/30th ENCAMPMENT/UNITED SPANISH WAR/VETERANS/HAVANA, CUBA. MADE/in/U.S.A. This reunion medal is in very good overall condition and will enhance any USWV reunion collection.
