Remember The Maine Pin

This is a patriotic "REMEMBER THE MAINE" pin from the Spanish American War period. The eight point medallion encases a double sided silver disk. It is suspended from a header in the shape of a bow that has the American flag painted on it. The header shows some wear to the paint around the edges, but the colors are still good. There is no makers mark on the reverse of the header, the pin is securely in place and functional. One side of the disk shows an image of the USS Maine under way. The word REMEMBER in an arc above the ship and THE MAINE in an arc below it. The reverse of the disk shows a Cuban flag with the words CUBA MUST BE FREE. The brass medallion has lost most of the gilt, and now shows a nice bronze patina. This is a scarce piece of Spanish American war memorabilia and will display nice with your other Span-Am pieces.
