Non Excavated Civil War Flag Finial

This is a one piece bronze eagle flag staff finial from the Civil War era. The eagle is 6" high and 6" wide. The eagle's wings are outstretched, with the head facing to the left. The eagle retains the majority of the gold gilt, with the exposed bronze having a deep patina. I can find no makers marks or stamps anywhere on this finial, but have no doubt it is from the Civil War era. This one comes out of east Texas, unfortunately I have no history on it. This style eagle was used on the US National colors as well as regimental flags on both sides during the war.
