Spanish American War Veteran Medal Medallion

The United Spanish War Veterans organization was the result of three large Span-Am veterans groups merging in 1904. It's members were veterans of the Spanish American War, Philippine American War and the China Relief Expedition. This medallion is the bottom piece for the United Spanish War Veterans medal that was made up of a header, ribbon and the medallion. The badge is 2 1/2" tall and 1 5/16" wide. It is two piece, with the top connecting the bottom piece by a metal loop. The top is made up of a ship's anchor, cannon tube, rifle and saber, representing the different branches of service. Hanging below that is a Spanish American War cross. All four of the arms are stamped, the top has CUBA, PORTO RICO on the right, USA on the bottom and PHILIPPINE ISLANDS on the left. In the center of the cross is a military scene, surrounded by two circles with the words "SPANISH WAR VETERANS in an arc at the top and the dates 1898-1902 at the bottom. The reverse of the medallion is stamped N at the top, E on the right, S at the bottom and W on the right arm. In the center is a partial American flag with the word United imposed over the flag. Inside the two circles are the different badges of the units that served in the Spanish American War period. The medallion has a beautiful bronze patina. While it may not be complete, this medallion have some awesome display power!
