This is an illustrated page from the book "The Soldier in Our Civil War". The book was originally published in 1884 as a tribute to the soldiers and sailors of both sides of the war. The illustration is from page 142 of Volume 1 and is in good condition. It measures 11 1/2" wide and is 16 1/2" tall. The illustration from an original 1884 printed book is mounted on a piece of cardboard and is protected by a plastic sleeve. This one page from the book looks just the way it did when it was printed 138 years ago. There are no smudges, stains, rips, tears, creases or folds on the page. The black and white illustration shows the Naval Practice Battery at the Navy yard in Washington, and is titled as such. If you collect Civil War documents and drawings this piece will fit right in!
