This is a Holy Bible that contains both the Old and New Testaments. It measures 3 1/2" wide and 5 1/4" tall. This little pocket edition bible shows plenty of use, with the front and back covers hanging on by just a couple of strips of paper. The spine remains intact, so the bible remains very solid throughout. There is no staining or water damage found on this bible. It was printed by OXFORD at the University Press, for the British and Foreign Bible Society in London, England. The print is very legible and easy to read. Written in cursive ink on the inside front cover is 3rd Tennasee Cavelry/presented to/Maj. J.L. Worrall/By the M.E.C. South/June 10th 1861. On the opposite page is written JL Morral/3rd Tennasee Cavelry/Knoxville/Tennasee/1862/Holy Bible Book/Divine Precious/Treasure thou are/mine/JLW. The name William Worrall is written in pencil on the page opposite the bible printing page. The only other inscriptions I have found is the Mrs. Susie B in pencil on the inside back cover. I have done no research on this information, but there is plenty to be done! If you collect Civil War bibles, this is an excellent candidate.
