Civil War Period Civilian Wool Blanket

This is a civilian wool blanket for the Civil War period. It is made of undyed Kersey weave wool and is made of two panels joined midseam. The edges of the blanket are bound, but the ends are not. This one measures 55" x 80". The two sections are hand sewn together, and the stitching is still very strong. The letters MS have been stenciled 3" high on one side of the blanket. I am not sure when these were added. Even if they are post war, the blanket itself is Civil War period. It remains in very good condition and will make a very nice addition to any Civil War soldier display.
