Pre Civil War Flower Button 1837-1840

This is a non excavated two piece coat size flower buttons from the 1837-1840 period. The button is back marked IVES KENDRICK & CO/EXTRA. The button is in very good condition. It has an eight point star design, with a floral motif engraved around the perimeter. The button measures 19.5 mm and retains over 90% of the gilt. The shank is present and standing tall. The Ives, Kendrick and company can be traced back to 1837-1840 in Waterbury, Connecticut. This button will make a great start for any collection.
