Sporting Button with New Designs Back Mark

This is a non excavated tin sporting button from the pre Civil War period. The button is of a two piece design, is back marked NEW DESIGNS in gilt and measures 27 mm. The face of the button depicts a stag head on a smooth back ground. The button has been nickel plated, with the majority of the plating being worn off. I have not been able to find any information on this company, but believe this button is from the 1850's to 1860's period. The shank is still reporting for duty, but is leaning slightly to one side. This is a nice piece to add to your button collection.
