Cast Iron Shoe Sole Stamp

This is a cast iron shoe sole stamp from the Civil War period. It measures 10 1/2" in length and 3 1/4" at the widest point. This thing is pretty hefty and weighs in at a good 10 pounds! It was used to stamp out soles for shoes, and looks like it could be used for either foot. There is a faint makers mark on the toe end of the stamp, but I haven't been able to decipher it. The top of the handle is marked with the number 9, apparently the shoe size. This one comes with oral history of being found in an old warehouse that was being demolished during the 1950's in Richmond, Virginia. I have no documentation to support it, but I'm pretty sure this was used to make soles for Confederate brogans before the fall of Richmond. If anyone recognizes the makers stamp your help would be greatly appreciated.
