Revolutionary War Era Canteen

This is a wooden stave camp canteen from the American Revolutionary War period. The canteen measures approximately 9 5/8" from end to end, 9" in diameter and stands 8 1/4" tall. The 10 staves are held together by four irons bands, closed off by two pear shaped end caps. The bands are loose, but remain solid in construction. This one has a large hole without a spout, and a smaller one for a vent. The two wooden stoppers show plenty of age and appear to be original to the canteen. This canteen has some great eye appeal, and the construction is still very solid. This would make a great piece for any Revolutionary War collection or display.
