This is a set of non excavated military academy buttons from the late 1800's period. These two piece buttons are different sizes, one being coat size and the other cuff size. On the face are the letters CMMI in monogram. I can find the button on page 322 of Albert's button book, but there is no information as to which military academy it represents. The back marks are different, the coat button has a SUPERIOR QUALITY stamp, while the cuff button is S.APPEL&CO NEW YORK. The faces are dent free, no mars or blemishes. The lettering is monogram style, with the C and I being very pronounced and the two m's appearing within the letter C, one on each side of the letter I. The letters are within a rope style border. The majority of the gilt remains on each of the buttons. The shanks are all still present and straight.
