This is a US Model 1938 wire cutter and carrier made for use during World War II. The primary use of these small hand held wire cutters was to cut barbed wire used as obstacles to the Infantry advance. The cutters are 9" long and have a maximum jaw opening of 3/8". This set is stamped US/HKP 1942. These cutters are in very good condition and operate normally. The canvas carrier is khaki in color and is dated 1942 as well. I can not quite make out the maker, but I believe it to be the SCOTT MFG CO. There are pictures galore of troops going ashore on D Day, 6 June, 1944 with these hanging of cartridge and pistol belts. This set is in good condition and will round out your WWII Infantry set.
