This is a handmade Mayan/Aztec domed wooden storage box. I believe that this one was made during the 1960's for the tourist market. The box measures 10 3/4" long, 6" wide and 5 1/2" tall. It was assembled using small iron pins, and is very well made. The domed top has a carved figure on it, with colored stone inlays. The top has a couple of shallow age cracks in the wood, in addition to a small chip at the bottom edge of the lid. The inside storage of the box is 9 1/4" long, 4 1/2" wide and 2 3/4" deep.
